Naming an Executor
Can a person who lives in another state be named as the executor of your will?

Yes, but it must be probated in the county of the residence of the decedent. A local agent is appointed for the purpose of the out of state executor having a contact for local service should the need arise.

Yes. If an executor lives outside of Texas, they will need to appoint a local agent to receive notices for them. The will, of course, will have to be probated in the county where the maker resided at the time of death.

Yes. However, at the time of death, if the executor still lives out of state, then s/he will need to appoint a resident agent in Texas.
