Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
obtaining a reverse mortgage without heirs consent
My mother passed away 11 years ago. She had 4 children from a previous marriage; one of which passed away over 20 years ago with 3 children. I was my parents only child. Mom did not have a will when she died. The other children were very hostile to my father (one graphically threatened to kill him), but agreed to make him administrator of the estate. He has lived in the house these 11 years, paid off the mortgage and given all expenses to maintain the home. His health is very poor, and he is trying to obtain a reverse mortgage, but the underwriters won't do it without contacting all heirs. He and I have had no contact with any of them for the last 10 years. I can not find them anywhere on any search engine. Even if I could find them, I am scared they wouldn't agree to the mortgage. He has maxed out every credit card he has with medical bills. I don't know what to do. Since he has 60% control with my consent, shouldn't he be able to get the mortgage on the home? He isn't trying to pull a fast one, just trying to live. Is there a inexpensive way to find the other heirs? What should he do?

Re: obtaining a reverse mortgage without heirs consent
There are agencies that locate people, but they're not inexpensive. There won't be a reverse mortgage without all the heirs agreeing.
