poa overriding a life insurance benificary

Will the power of attorney have any rights to a life insurance policy if not named as the benificeay?

No, because any rights the holder of the power of attorney might have end immediately upon the death of the grantor of the power of attorney and life insurance isn't paid until after death. The Executor or Administrator of the estate won't have any rights either if there is a named beneficiary(ies) since the funds will never belong to the estate.

No. BTW a power of attorney doesn't give you a "right" to any asset. It merely allows you to act on behalf of the grantor and in the grantor's best interest.
