Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Power of Attorney changes life insurance beneficiary to himself

My aunt (93 years old) just died. She had given me an insurance policy long ago that she had with me as the beneficiary. I called the company today and found out a nephew who had power of attorney had changed the beneficiary to himsdelf just last month. Is this legal? My understanding was that a power of attorney could not change anything that was testamentary.
