Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

How to get Power of Attorney for mother.

I am a college student attempting to obtain power of attorney over my mother that is currently in a mental hospital. I was wondering if it is possible to get power of attorney without her sighning or anything. She is currently not in the right state of mind to make decisions as far as paying her bills or even sighning papers. I am trying to get this in order to continue paying her bills and keeping her finances and all in order while she is unable to do so. I slao need to know what proper channels to go through and how to fill out and file paperwork if this is possible. I need this info ASAP. Thank you.

Can't do it! She'd have to have the mental competency to know she was making a power of attorney. At this point, you'd have to move for a guardianship, and that's a court-ordered situation that's both complicated and expensive. You need a lawyer for that.
