Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Power of Attorney

I would like to know if my Mother would have to pay my debt off if I was to Die?

I am Disable and She is My Power of Attorney. I do not want for My Mother to pay off my Debt.

I am also wanting to know how to stop her from being My Power of Attorney?

Thank You,

Re: Power of Attorney

I can comment generally about your question but

directly answer your question because too many

other issues may change the answer, for example,

cosigning agreements and the like. Generally, a

power of attorney does not make someone liable for

your debts, particularly since the power of attorney

expires if you die (that is when the will takes over).

To revoke a power of attorney, you file a revocation

with the county clerk and serve a copy of it on the

attorney (i.e. your mom).
