Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I'm pretty sure that I have some kind of inheritance that other family members are trying to obtain. My family is telling me there is nothing. If an inheritance is not claimed within a certain amount of time, is it defaulted to the next family member? I'm very concerned that they're trying to hold out and get it for themselves or they have forged my signature on other documents.

If an estate has been opened up in probate court, you file something with the court letting them know that you exist (I had to do this myself one time. I ended up receiving $27,000.00).

If no estate has been opened up, you can open it yourself.
