Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Probate then dispurse assets to heirs

After Probate, How Long Legaly does the executor have to dispurse assets, wether money or land to the heirs, do they have the right to do as they please for as long as they would like? Doesn't seem like they would? In Texas. Seems like the executor is dragging his feet but not sure if all money is being accounted for in the business and I have not received any proceeds from it nor anything or my part of my inheritance, there is 4 of us in the will. Thanks,

Re: Probate then dispurse assets to heirs

The executor has a fiduciary responsibility to the heirs of the estate. If there is any wrong-doing on the executor's part, he or she could be personally liable. If he or she is merely procrastinating, you (or another heir) could hire an attorney and ask to be appointed executor so you can perform the duties in a timely manner. There is no mandated "deadline" to wind up the estate.
