my moms significant other passed away leaving no will. They shared a residence for 7years that belonged to him. However many upgrades and new furniture were purchased together with majority my mom paid for.His children are in town removing things from the home that my mom purchased is that legal?

Your mother needs to contact an attorney immediately. It is possible that she may have a claim on some of the property, but she will need an attorney to advise her and to file a restraining order if one is called for. If she waits too long, the items will be gone and the out of town relatives might be hard to get before the court.
If the items are not worth much, it might not be worth the expense to recover them. Her attorney can help her with that.
