probate process
my sister appointed me the executor of her estate. what is the complete probate process before the estate can be distributed?

The probate process consists of a few steps:
1. Obtain the will (if any)
2. Go to court, prove that the person is deceased, and prove who should get the deceased's property (pursuant to the will or by intestate succession laws)
3. Collect all estate assets, pay estate liabilities, file an inventory with the court
4. distribute remaining property.
This is an oversimplified answer, but it should give you the basic framework. Also, you should never do this without legal representation.

You really need to hire a lawyer to help you with this and she/he can be paid out of the estate.
