Is there a statute of limitations for probating a will.

Sort of. A will needs to be probated within four years from the date of death if the estate needs administration. There's literally no limit if it is only filed as a muniment of title (to clear title to real estate). A will could be probated after more than four years has elapsed, but there are a number of procedural hurdles to get over, to show why it wasn't probated earlier.
