Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I recently inherited life insurance money from my ex-husband. I told the insurance company on several occasions that I was his ex-wife and the money should go to his current wife, but they told me in two separate occasions that I had to take the money and they could not give the money to anyone else. Today I recieved a letter in the mail from her attorney saying that I need to hand over the money to her within 21 days. Needless to say I do not have the money. The attorney said my divorce decree said I am not supposed to have this money. We had one attorney when we divorced, my attorney, and it was a standard uncontested divorce, which I do not have a copy of it right now since it's been 16 years, that stays we both keep what we had. Who's to say the he didn't want me to have it? He was sick and dying for the last 12 months so you'd think they would have looked at all the policies. Thanks, DJ

Without looking at the paperwork, it is impossible to advise you. Best to have an attorney review it.
