Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
What are the responsibilities of the Executor and rights of the heirs?
My siblings and I are having difficulty getting copies of bank statements and other information regarding my mothers estate. The Executor (brother) refuses to give this information but will give copies of hand written ledgers which can not be understood. What are his responsibilities and our rights. We still have not sold the house or divided up the assets. Also, what part of any of this does his wife play?

Unless his wife has been given some authority under the will, she should not have any say in what is going on. You should probably retain independent counsel and demand an accounting for the assets and debts that have been handled by the executor. If you suspect some misconduct, then you can motion to the court to have the executor replaced.
