Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
selling land of deceased parent
We have land we want to sell but it is in my (deceased) fathers name. His wife is also deceased. We are three sisters.
What must we do to get this property into our name so that we can sell it?
Please explain.
Thank you very much

Call us and we would discuss or go to a local probate lawyer..the estate must be probated to get the assets in your name..no fee for initial consultation
Re: selling land of deceased parent
As the previous posters alluded to, much of this depends on whether a will(s) exists. If so, the questions is whether that will(s) has been probated. If there is no will, that's ok, you still have options, unfortunately those options still involve going to court. I would recommend sitting down with an attorney and laying everything out so that he/she can get a better picture of what all has happened so that he/she can tell you what should happens. Good luck.

Did the deceased father & spouse have wills? Were they probated? Was the wife also your mother? Also, what year did they die? Are there any other children?
