Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Selling US Treasuries from inheritence

I inherited some US Treasury bonds that do not mature until 2008 and the Will stipulates they are not to be ''sold off'' until maturity. My question is, I need to get cash for a portion of them and thought about selling them to an inheritence funding company to get cash now and they would get their payment when they mature. Legally, can I do this since the bonds are not really going to be sold before maturity and the Co. will not recieve their payment until maturity. Some more info, I am an heir and not Executor.

Re: Selling US Treasuries from inheritence

Have they been fully transfered into your name? If so, you should be able to do with them as you wish. It may be worthwhile, however, to examine the terms of the will as to what the exact language may be.
