Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
My significant other is currently hospitalized & the outlook is not good? I'm worried that in the event of his death his family will try to take everything we have in our home. What are my rights as a significant other in Texas?

I'm sorry to learn of your situation. If you're not married, then you're right. In the event of the person's death, you may be out of luck. You still get to keep anything to which you can prove ownership (gifts, co-purchased goods, stuff you bought yourself, etc.)
If your SO is still competent you may want to see if s/he has executed a will. If so, the will would control your SO's assets in the event of a death.
