Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I just sold my Texas home which was left after my husband died. He had no will so my kids all signed affidavits to put it in my name. Can I divide the money (1/2 to me and divide the other half by 4 and give to the 4 kids myself or do I have to have a lawyer do it?

Under the present law all assets of a deceased spouse goes to the survivor if there were no children by a prior marriage..hence if that is true all belongs to you and you can do what you want. But the title company requirrs affidavits which may mean they include children of a prior marriage? or just the normal overcaution of a title company...but whichever..you don't need a lawyer to give the money away
