Step-father trying to sell land
My mother left no will to be found. My step-father is trying to sell the land they bought together and said he wants us to sign a paper saying we are not heirs.
The 3 of us do not want to do this. What should we do?

Re: Step-father trying to sell land
Under Texas law, you and your siblings are entitled to an undivided half interest in the property. If you are interested in selling the land, make sure he understands that you get half the proceeds. Have that drawn up by a lawyer as a contract.
Your mother's estate may have to be entered into probate to determine heirship, or you may only have to file an affidavit of heirship. There are too many other factors to make a snap determination as to what exactly may be required.
