Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

If my stepfather-in-law gifted me money by opening a savings account 5 years ago in Texas and puts it in his name and mine (and I have never drawn out of it), will it go to probate after his death for other family members? I became his power of attorney almost a year ago at his request because his blood relatives stole money from him and he didn't want them to receive any more. I've been the only one tending to his needs, paying his bills, and visiting him in the nursing home. His blood relatives are so greedy that they will come after any money, including what he has given me. He's already given his blood relatives their CDs but they're wanting more. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

It depends, Payable on Death accounts or Joint Tenants with right of survivorship accounts will pass outside of probate. Otherwise you may have to go through the probate process.

Go to the bank and check the account designation.
