Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

stock ownership

I recently received a letter showing my deceased husband had bought share of stock in John Hancock. They tell me that I am not entitled to this money unless I produce some prove of ownership. Is this true and how do I do this . And to my knowledge there were never any printed certificates.

Get with an attorney to see the best way to show that you are your husband's heir, or devisee under a will.

Ownership of publicly traded stock is usually just bookkeeping, rather than issuing printed shares.
