what is the time frame for contesting a will in the State of Texas. Is a formal will valid, having 2 witness sign and the testator without a self proven affadavit.

You have 4 years to probate the will. You should contest it as soon as you are notified that the will is being probated.

To answer your second question, a self-proving affidavit is not required for a will to be valid.
