trust fund and settlement

I have a trust fund set up. My grandmother .. a vioxx settlement was settled and we got two settlements to be split between 3 people, does the settlement have to be put into the trust or can it be put into different accounts.

I'm not sure I understand the question. To whom were the settlement payments made? Is this a testamentary trust? Who is the trustee/beneficiaries?
