Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Trustee changing terms of trust

My mother is the trustee of my father's trust which bequeaths to their 4 children ranch property and mineral interests upon her death. My mother has a life estate. Can she amend my father's trust to give one of her children preferential treatment, i.e. specific ranch land?

The terms of the trust can not be unilaterally changed by the trustee. If there is some really good reason to change the terms of the trust, she would have to obtain approval by the court and a resulting order.

Probably not, although the trust document itself may give her the power to do so.
