Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

widows rights, no will

my father-in-law passed away one year ago. He and mother-in-law were separated at the time,not legally. there is no will. His son took possession of all personal property and residence in the home thar father-in -law shared ownership with other family members. what are the widow rights, concerning partial home ownership and personal property such as furnishings??

Without a divorce, the widow has a legal right to the property. The son is interfering with her right to possession. Somebody needs to petition the court for an administration of the estate in order to get this straightened out. Depending upon other facts, there may be less expensive options just in case somebody wants to be reasonable.

she has rights...but she needs to call a lawyer..and if in Dallas area, call us..Many people just don't want to be bothered, is she one of those?
