Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My wife died last year and im investigating her death. I tried to get a copy of her perscriptions from Walmart. I showed them certified proof of common law marraige and of death. They told me i had to have power of attorney. What do i do next?

They are wrong. A power of attorney dies with the power grantor. As for what to do, you can file an application for letters of administration in probate court. This allows you to do anything your deceased wife could do (including ordering medical records.)
