Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Will after death

My mother passed away 2 months ago. My sister has a copy of my mother's will and will not show it to me. I am one of two children in the family. She tells me I'm left out of the will and that only my wife is mentioned to receive a small gift of money. All of my mother's money, $100,000, was in a joint checkingaccount with my sister on the account or was placed in joint CDs. She tells us the will does not have to be probated because there is no property involved to be sold or dispersed. That is true that there is no other property. No money has been paid to my wife and we don't know what lawyer assisted in making the new will about a year ago. Is it legal to prevent me from seeing the will?

Re: Will after death

Probably. If the will is probated in Texas, you must be notified but if not probated, I don't believe you must. Apparently your mother and sister had all funds together....and that is legal.
