No Will - need money for burial

My friend died of cancer. He did not have a will, but he did have a 401k. Will they give me money to pay for his funeral? What can i do

Doesn't sound like you have any basis to obtain funds from the 401K other than your desire to pay his funeral expenses. The 401 K will be distributed to his heirs. Doesn't sound like you're an heir. You could petition the court for reimbursement of the funeral expenses, but you're going to have to get an order of the Probate Court. Good Luck.

Are you the beneficiary of the 401K? If not, then go to the beneficiary who will hopefully provide funeral expenses.
