Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
Will
My mother was included in a will from her aunt. A checking account was supposed to be split between her and four other people. Nothing has been said about the amount of the checking account or what amount she will be getting, if any. Is there any way to check the history of this account to see where the money has gone before or after the aunts death? She has heard nothing from the lawyer about the amount she will be getting.

Re: Will
Unless you're name is on the account or you're a signer or something on the account, I would say there isn't a great deal you can do regarding the history of the account short of asking whoever is currently in charge (mostly likely the estate) to just tell you.
If the will has been probated and an inventory has been filed you can order a copy of the inventory and it might give you a rough idea of the status of the account. Keep in touch with the attorney handling the case. While he/she is probably very busy and might not be able to answer all your questions since he's representing the estate, most attorneys understand the nature of probate and that you're waiting and it's hard and will try to help you the best they can.
If you are truly concerned about mishandling of the estate or breach of fiduciary duty in regards to the account then you COULD get a lawyer and delve deeper into that. My advice would be to hold off though and explore other options and to the best of your ability, be patient. Good luck, hope that helps.
