Can a last will and testament be overturned? If trust has been handled improperly.

A "trust" and a "will" are two different things. If there was a trust created in a will, the legal action will likely be for breach of fiduciary duty for failure to abide by the terms of the trust. This is fairly complicated and you should see an attorney if you think you have been harmed.
