How long does an executor have to file a will in Texas?

Four years from the date of death. There are some very limited exceptions to this rule.

There is no deadline, but if it isn't filed within 4 years, there could be problems. If the executor is not acting in a timely manner, and if you are an heir, then you can ask the court (with the help of an attorney) to appoint you executor so you can properly handle the estate.
