Can a company stop paying injured workers?
Hello I was working for a company and got injured overseasit took 9 days to off the ship and home then as there was no accident report sent from the vessel it was a month to the day before i got to see a dr. started treatment and physical therapy to no avil dr. advised seeing an orthopedic surgon while wokers comp refused to pay due to me being injured in the uk now it has been over a month with out treatment and the company let me go in a downsizing they paid me while i was getting treatment but now not and i am getting no compensation can they do that leagaly?

Thank you for your question. Legally, no they cannot get by with it. But I expect they will continue to ignore you until you get an attorney involved to help. An attorney will be glad to meet and consult with you without charge. A fee would be based upon what is recovered. No recovery would mean no fee. What an attorney can charge is regulated by law in Oklahoma. You would be entitled to a weekly check, medical care, and an award for your injury if you are left with any degree of disability. I would need to know more information regarding the company you are working for, the state, whether they have workmans' comp insurance, etc. Please call if you live in the state of Texas.
