Legal Question in Workers Comp in Texas

I injured my back at work. I work for a local government. I have been referred to a surgeon for my L4L5 back injury. There has been no problem with working through the WC system for medical. What I am wondering is what happens after the surgery and recovery? Should I be talking to the adjuster? Do they just offer a settlement once treatment/recovery is over or do I have to initiate a final settlement? I'm hesitant to think attorney because of working for a govt agency.

You will need to talk to an attorney. This is a legal matter. The benefits you are entitled to receive are governed by statutes and rules. If you want to get everything you are entitled to get, you should get good advice from an attorney.

If you have to miss work for the injury, and miss at least 8 days, then you are owed workers' comp benefits called temporary income benefits. Everything happens way before you finish treatment. There is no such thing as a final settlement. You can consult with an attorney that is Board Certified in Workers' Compensation Law without paying anything out of pocket.
