Legal Question in Workers Comp in Texas

i originally injured my back at work in April 2004. I've had 5 back surgeries since including two lumbar fusions. The last fusion was in September 2011 to correct cauda equina syndrome. I had loss of bladder and bowel function and required immediate surgery. I havent been able to work in a long time and have reiled on family to support me most of the time, I did collect some unemployment since the state said I was able to work.

I am on a couple of narcotics including hydrocodone and morphine for the pain. It hurts to sit stand or walk for more than 5 to 10 minutes.

I know the state has exceptions for spinal injuries, but how do I aplly for income benefits since I am unable to work. Or can I get a referral to a lawyer? I hate to say it, but most lawyers I have talked to are looking for a quick buck and are afraid this case may take some time. I would be willing to take a settlement in lieu of future benefits

Texas law terminates ALL monetary benefits for workers after 401 weeks AND if you did not have more than 15% impairment ....after 104 weeks...so no lawyer can help. You may qualify for social security benefits..vote for another good Republican Romney who will fix the safety net...or vote for soomeone other than Texas Republicans. The Supreme Court rules workers can't sue insurance companies who refuse to pay work benefits...so no lawyer will take a case they can't win in Texas...not just a quick buck but no buck...Your case is not uncommon..
