Legal Question in Workers Comp in Texas

wanting to work

I had an injury on the job and had scope surgery on my knee.

My job is all bending, and the doctor said I can't bend at all.

I am collecting a chack, but need to know what to do next. I may not go back for up to 1 year according to doctor, and can't work any other way. If I try to look for other work, would that upset my medical from this injury?

Is there any type of flat settlement that I should receive?

I am totally in the dark.

Re: wanting to work

You have lifetime medical for treatment of that injury..but shortly the insurer will stop payments is our experience...and you do not get a "settlement" but and impairment rating ..and normally for knees it ranges from 5 to 10 %...with 3 weeks pay for each %...so assuming 10 or 30 weeks at max $376...paid weekly..

and you may need to be retrained for another job..
