Legal Question in Workers Comp in Texas

Workmans Comp

I injured my knee tearing the LCL on June 07, 2007 while at work as a Police Officer chasing a suspect I jumped over a fence and my knee popped. I was on workers comp. for 3 months and went back to work. I left that agency and started working for another agency in Dec.. During that time I continued to see the doctor and receive treatment for my left knee, rehabilitation and strengthen. My doctor decided I needed to have surgery to repair the LCL on June 15, 2008. Im still on workers comp. and working on my knee rehabilitating it. I received a letter from my employer who stated that they were terminating my employment because I didnt finish my probation. I started working on Dec. 20, 2007 and my 6 months probation was up on June 20, 2008. I believe I was terminated because the Chief was mad at me for leaving when they were short staff. I did what my doctor instructed and was never in trouble at work and got a great three month evaluation. Im still receiving Workers comp. for the injury of my previous employer. I do not have a lawyer yet can you advised if I have a claim against my former employer and what do I need to do for my workers comp and settlement with previous employer?
