Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Trinidad and Tobago

if i'm being serve with a affidavit from my ex wife for the ownership or shares of my property although a mortgage is still being paid and cant afford a lawyer to appear in court at present could i not accept the affidavit at present or is this illegal
