Legal Question in Real Estate Law in United Kingdom

Joint morgages

I have joint morgage, I allowed the person to move in with me eight years ago, the morgage is nearly twenty years old, for the whole term he has contributed approximaely four years of the term- not yet finished. we have an 8 year old daughter, he now claims he wants his share, has refused to contribute towards the morgage for the past year, or towards the household. Can I ask him to leave and do I have to pay him any money?
