Legal Question in Business Law in United Kingdom

copyright question regarding limited company

I've been one half of a partnership which is a music promotions company. The other partner is threatening to make the company limited in his name only and most importantly is going to copyright one of the events that we do.He says by law he can do all of this. however it was me that came up with the business name and the event name and it is well known in my area that it is me that organises these events. I am starting my own company and want to use the event name only and will be running the events exactly the same. He has threatened to sue me if I do this.

Can I do it without being sued or can he make the event copyrighted and make the company limited?

Re: copyright question regarding limited company

Copyright is like any other asset only, the owner can deal with it and if it is owned jointly then both parties have to agree to it being transferred to a third party,eg a Company.

It is unclear from you resume what assets are the subject of copyright but you clearly have a partnership dispute which needs to be resolved and taking proper legal advice at an early stage is essential
