is it illegal and is so what are the implications for a limited companys registered address to be that of which the property owner has no knowledge

It depends what definition you give to illegal.
You haven't given any necessary additional information, but as a general view: it might be in breach of your rent contract, an thus a reason for the owner to evict you.
Either you rent a business address (your solicitor might provide you with that), or you negotiate with the owner.
