over paid
2 guitar players contributed to 1 third of the songs on an album, for this they were to receive royalties , 6 years later it was discovered that they had been overpaid. instead of receiving royalties for a third of the album they had beeen receiving royalties for songs from all the albulm which amonuts to half a million pounds, those that were receiving roualties now no longer receeve them must they pay back the money ?

Basically yes.
If there is difficulty in recouping and there is a collection agent involved those deprived of Royalties will need to addrees a claim against the Collection agent.
Assuming the obligation to repay does not depend on Contract (and it shouldn't since Royalties are a right to payment in copyright) the six year limitation period does not apply.
