Legal Question in Consumer Law in United Kingdom

Overseas vehicle purchase

Found offer to buy truck(2003 Toyota Tundra) currently in London, UK. I live in California. Seller states will go through Third Party to hold money and give me ten days to inspect vehicle. Seller states they will pay for shipping and insurance. Who should I seek assistance from to insure I'm not being scammed and that the transaction is conducted fairly? What precautions should I take? They claim the vehicle was register in the USA(I don't know which state)and the duties and costs to register the vehicle in the UK is too much and they must sell. I would very much like to purchase this vehicle but want to cover all my bases. Thank you.

Re: Overseas vehicle purchase

I already smell a scam, so I strongly recommend AGAINST entereing into this transaction. There are plenty of Toyota Tundras available in the U.S. without having to risk engaging in a transaction with someone in a different. If you absolutely must by this particularly Tundra, I would consider using www.escrow.com. At least that company is approved by eBay for escrow services.
