Legal Question in Consumer Law in United Kingdom
Pyramid selling
A US based company - The New Millennium Group Inc - Roseburg, Oregon advertised a Silver Ingot Programme in the UK and its website www.nmgglobal.com. Customers were given the option of ticking a box, called the auto rollover, box on the order form.
NMG's adverts ran thus:
If you DO NOT tick and initial the box: you will receive $94.50/61 per Ingot purchased, from the company within 60-65 days of joining - and you will still receive the 10,228/$15,853.50 over the 14 month period, per ingot purchased -
Since August 1999, I have purchased a total of 24 for $2352 choosing NOT to tick the auto rollover box and expecting to receive $2268 within 60-65 days. Repeated demands, through phone calls, faxes and emails from NMG for the promised sum of $2268 have met with inaction on the part of NMG.
What is the position under US law? Is NMG in breach of the terms of sale of goods/contract/promise? What is the best course of action for recovering the sum of money? I need a lawyer in the US whose services I can procure to write to this company.

Re: Pyramid selling
What you need to do is contact the Oregon Attorney General's Consumer Fraud section. Go to www.state.or.us and look for the link to the Oregon Attorney General. If this is a pyramid scheme then you should consider filing a civil lawsuit, and an attorney in Oregon would be best qualified to help you do that. However, a complaint to the Attorney General might well get your money refunded.
