Edith lives in a block of flats. One evening the lights are out and as she begins to walk down stairs she almost trips over a broomstick that was left across the stairs by somebody else. She steps over the broomstick but leaves it there thinking it would be funny if somebody came along and tripped over it. Ten minutes later Vera comes down stairs, trips over the broomstick and breaks her arm. What is Edith�s liability?
