Legal Question in Environmental Law in United Kingdom
We are a community with a local comprehensive school, the school has a grass area which is approximately the size of six rugby pitches and a wood, this has been used by the community for more than 50yrs, prior to the school being built, it is an area where children play, joggers and dog walkers use regularly and football teams, rugby teams, cricket and more utilise frequently. It has always been known to the local community as their community fields.
The school are now putting up a seven foot metal fence to prevent any access of the community onto the grassed area or wood, without any appropriate consultation with the local community.
Are they allowed to just do this?
The school has made this autocratic decision without any real reason.
We would welcome your advice this is a local community who just want to save their beautiful green fields.
Thank you Mrs Fran Mallett
