Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom

Change of name

My partner has a two year old daughter with his previous partner, and she wants to change her name from the fathers surname to her own. He is not going to give her permission to do so where would he stand on this? can she still go ahead and do so?

Re: Change of name

This will all depend upon whether or not your partner has parental responsibility for his daughter. If he does then his consent or an order of the court is required before there can be a change of name.

Our website contains much information on parental responsibility and how to obtain a prohibited steps order should one be required.
