Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom
My children
I have 3 sons, their father is named on their birth cirtificates. We seperated 3yrs ago and were never married. He has never paid any child support and has no involvement with them. My sons have the same last name as his and if i wanted to change this would i neeed his permission?

It would seem that your sons' father has parental responsibility for the children and as such either his written consent or permission of the court must be obtained before you may change their surnames.
If he is not prepared to give his consent and it is necessary for you to apply to court we will be pleased to assist.
