If the mother of the child is not receiving any matenance for their child, what rights does the father have to joint custody?

Parents are unmarried.

The father is currently issuing out threats to the mother.

Although a failure to pay maintenance for a child may well show a lack of responsibility on the part of a father, this does not deprive the father of the right to have contact with his child. Indeed in the absence of any other circumstances it is probable that a court would order contact to take place as being in the best interest of the child even though the father is not paying maintenance.

If maintenance is not being paid there are a number of ways which this can be enforced. Stopping contact is not one of them.
