Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom

ending a relationship

I have been in a relationship since Oct 1999. Together we have built a business and lived jointly. Although my partner is a sole trader, the money has been earned and the business built jointly since 2001. We have 3 joint mortgages together and runa mortgage business together, even though he is the only regulated person in the busienss I did the administrative side of thing s and project management and searched for the rental properties and took care of those. What would I be entitled to should I leave the business? Our business bank accounts are in joint names and I only draw £750 per month from the business, as a form of income

Re: ending a relationship

It is probable that by virtue of the Partnership Act and the fact that you and your partner have been carrying on a business with a view to profit, that a business partnership will be implied. In the absence of a formal partnership agreement your entitlement will be 50% of the business.
