Re: grandparents rights to have contact with their grandchildren

There is a presumption accepted by the courts that it is in a child's best interests to have contact with all of the child's family including grandparents. A right is therefore given by the courts to grandparents in order that they might make an application for an order that they have with their grandchildren. The courts leave must however be obtained before making the application. Providing it is possible to show that it is in the child's best interest to have contact, you may be confident that an order will be made giving you contact. If you need any further advice or help in making the application, please let us know.
