Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom

Legal Right over child joint with his mother

I would like to be a legal father to my fiance's 9 year old child. I'm not the natural father but my fiance is the natural mother. His real father has no problem with this. Where do I go from here please?

Re: Legal Right over child joint with his mother

What you are saying in legal terms is that you want parental responsibility for this child. Your fiancee agrees as the child's mother and she can therefore enter into a parental responsibility agreement with you in which she agrees to share parental responsibility. If the natural father also has parental responsibility he must also consent and sign the agreement.

Further information and a downloadable parental responsibility agreement is available from the legal zone website at www.legal-zone.co.uk
